4-(2-Chloroethyl)morpholine hydrochloride (MOC) is used as intermediate for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals (e.g. floredil, morinamide, nimorazole and pholcodine). It is also used as Agrochemical Intermediates, dyestuff Intermediates.

It is a highly potent H1 histamine receptor antagonist (Kd = 310 pM) and tricyclic antidepressant that inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine and acts as an antagonist at histamine, serotonin, adrenergic, and muscarinic receptors with Ki values in the nanomolar range.

o-Phenylenediamine is a peroxidase substrate suitable for use in ELISA procedures. The substrate produces a soluble end product that is orange-brown in color and can be read spectrophotometrically at 450 nm. The OPD reaction may be stopped with 3 N HCl or 3 M H2SO4 and read at 492 nm.
