Hydriodic Acid
Hydriodic acid is a strong, inorganic, aqueous, acidic solution of completely ionized hydrogen iodide. It serves as a co-catalyst in the production of acetic acid by the carbonylation of methanol and is used as a disinfectant and pharmaceutical intermediate.
