General Description

  • Tamoxifen is a tertiary aminobenzene that acts by competitively binding and antagonizing estrogen receptors to reduce DNA synthesis
  • When estradiol cannot bind estrogen receptors, the DNA response element is not activated
  • Tamoxifen upregulates the production of TGFb and slows tumor growth
  • Tamoxifen inhibits the production of IGF-1, a stimulator of tumor growth
