Styrene is used in the preparation of polystyrene which finds application in rigid foodservice containers, automobile body panels, wind turbine parts, boats, compact disc (CD) cases, envelope windows and many other products. Other uses include refrigerator liners, medical devices and small household appliances. It is used as a precursor for the preparation of styrene-butadiene rubber, styrene-butadiene latex, styrene-isoprene-styrene (SIS), styrene-divinylbenzene (S-DVB) and styrene-acrylonitrile resin (SAN), which are used in rubber, plastic, insulation, fiberglass, pipes, automobile and boat parts, food containers and carpet backing.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.
