For precipitation of nucleic acids and preparation of gel stains for protein gel electrophoresis. Acetate buffers for amine coupling of proteins to Biacore sensor chip surfaces. Studies on microbial pili suggest that sodium acetate suppressed K99 production in E. coli strains cultured on a minimal medium. Experiments have shown that when added to food waste composting systems, NaOAc may be effective at counteracting the adverse effects of organic acids produced in the composting process.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.
