Binds to the polyamine modulatory site of NMDA Spermidine is used in electroporation during transferring the DNA into the cell under the electrical impulse. It is also used for purification of DNA-binding proteins. It combines with calcium chloride and utilized for the precipitation of DNA onto microprojectiles for bombardment with a gene gun. It plays an important role to reduce the amount of aging in yeast, flies, worms, and human immune cells by inducing autophagy. It serves as a precursor of spermine and essential for both normal and neoplastic tissue growth.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.
