Dimethylglyoxime is a well known reagent in analytical chemistry. It is used for the qualitative and quantitative determination of nickel by gravimetric analysis. It also finds application in the separation of palladium from tin, gold, rhodium and iridium. It is also useful in the detection of bismuth.
